Dear students at SMP1, I am a teacher and I think you have all designed a wonderful project. It is so creative and innovative. What have you done with the bags you have made? Would you be able to sell these projects to raise money for some type of project to save the environment? I know my students in Scarsdale will get many ideas from your creative work.

I think reducing waste into fashionable clothing is great. I would love if you could make a video showing how to make clothes out of waste.

  3. Laura C.
    November 15, 2011

Personally, I think that this is a great way to make use of waste. It would be nice and really interesting if you actually wore the clothing on a daily basis, and distributed them.

My passions in life include saving the environment and fashion. These fashionable bags take both my passions into consideration. IN Scarsdale, we face the same issues of preserving our environment that you face in Indonesia. I wish that our school would try something cool like yours! I would love to have a bag made out of garbage that is actually cute and stylish!

I learned that garbage isn’t useless and many citizens and Scarsdale take throwing away garbage for granted. Most people don’t realize that we can recycle and reuse garbage by turning it into bags and other useful items as oppose to throwing away our garbage in landfills where it can hurt the environment.

  6. Alyssa J
    November 16, 2011

I think it is really amazing how trash can be made into things we may use in the future. In Scarsdale we throw away lots of trash and it usually ends up in our landfill.

    November 16, 2011

I think that it is very cool that you took everyday items that have been thrown away and turn them into something useful. In Scardale, we have problems with recycling because a lot of people don’t have time to recycle. If people knew how to make things like you did, it would be a great way to save money while saving the environment.

    November 16, 2011

Your project was worth while to look at because creating those bags out of plastic wrappers is a way to keep a ton of plastic out of landfills. The bags look like they are somewhat easy to create and can be used everyday instead of bags you would have to buy at a store. I loved your project!

  9. November 16, 2011

I didn’t realize that the children in Indonesia are trying to help the planet and keep there country sustainable.

    November 16, 2011

I learned that Lamongan, East Java and how they turned plastic garbage into plastic bags and how we can do that also. What else can you do to help the environment?

    November 16, 2011

Dear students at SMPN 1 in Indonesia, I am a student and I learned that your topic is about having a more clean environment. How will you make your environment a clean one? How would you spread the word about a clean environment? What are you doing to help save the environment? Many people around the world are trying the make the environment cleaner in many ways. I think it’s a good idea by turning garbage into tradable fashion goods. Eliana N, Scarsdale Middle School, NY, USA.

Dear students at SM1, I am a student at Scarsdale Middle School and I think that this project is a great way to save landfills! I think that by reusing trash to make a helpful everyday product was very smart and I will try to do many things like this to help the environment.

    November 16, 2011

    Dear students,
I am a student at Scarsdale Middle School and I think that reusing garbage is a brilliant way to help the environment, and the bags you created were amazing. Personally, I think selling the bags in order to gain money for a charity which would help the environment would be a good idea. After reading this, I am inspired to do the same thing, and make such good creations out of trash. Do many people in your town do the same thing and use these bags? Thank you for the good idea. I really enjoyed your project!

What have you done with the bags look really cool. This is a great idea of recycling for anyone even though some people think it’s a waste. I think it should be a law that you have to recycle things that can be recycled.

I will have to try this too. I never really gave it a thought that you could use trash to create those kind of things.

I was very interested to learn that you could make bags from garbage. I really enjoyed looking at this project and it made me think about garbage in a way I never had before because I thought garbage was just garbage and didn’t realize that garbage could actually be useful. This was a great idea. How long did it take to make them?

I think that the idea of turning garbage into reusable plastic bags is a great idea. The trash you used to make your bags would have just gone to waste if you hadn’t had that great idea. I also noticed that you have cheetos in Indonesia, like we do in the USA. Your labels are different than ours, though.

I think converting waste into clothing is very smart. I think it will make it possible for people who don’t have clothing to get clothing. :)

To all, I’m a student at SMPN 1 Lamongan. Thanks for your comments. They are encouraging us to be more creative and continue to recycle our garbage in order to help reduce global warming whose effects will be devastating for our planet. That’s why we have to keep doing what we can to protect our environment. Maybe someday we will create a video to show how to make a bag from plastic :)
    Thank you :)

Thank you very much for your wonderful comments. Recycling is also great for the planet. It takes items that would just sit in a landfill, taking years to degrade and break down, and turns them into new products. The life of an item that can be recycled can go on and on. From its creation this recyclable item begins a long life that may take on many forms. For example, an old used pop bottle may not become a pop bottle again. It may instead become part of a child’s toy or even part of a car. As you can see, recycling goes way beyond traditional uses and explores new ways to make recycled items more useful. We will increase many ideas for recycling garbage.

Again, thank you very much for your comments ^_^
